By the middle of January 2013, we were once again ready to fire up our presses at Golburn Valley Oilmills in Tisdale, SK. Colin Rosengren had just hauled up a truckload of Camelina seed from his 2012 harvest and it was top quality product!
This crop was seeded on May 17th, 2012. It was a very clean crop and had a great start. It endured some heat stress in July when the rains quit but given this seeds drough resistant properties, the negative impact on the yield of the crop was minimal. In fact, the dry conditions carried into harvest which guaranteed that top quality seed was taken off this field on August 23, 2012. Bin temperatures were then closely monitored to ensure that the seed remained in perfect condition until it was ready to be hauled to our pressing facility in Tisdale.
On January 15th, 2013 we began pressing which took place over a period of 4 days. We then allowed it to settle for a few days before filtering it through a 1 micron paper filter and sending it off to Northern Nutraceuticals for bottling the first week of February.
